whatdo_yousay

The Articulus Corporate Storytelling Workshop is an instructor led workshop designed to help you create a compelling message that is clear to your audience and helps them to take action on your ideas. You will learn how to put together a message that resonates with the audience and helps them to make decisions. You will learn techniques for delivering your message with impact and also for handling an audience that is resistant to your ideas.

This is beyond presentation training. Most people have had some form of presentation training in their past. This workshop deals with skills of Persuasion and Advocacy in the face of very complex solutions. It focuses on the bigger picture and helps to engage the audience emotionally which gets the audience excited to buy into your idea.

ESI North America increases sales by over 400% in the Automotive Group

esi_logo

“By creating this message about ESI’s services I was able to quickly and clearly talk about what services ESI provides.Without using the Corporate Storytelling concepts I would have followed the same path as most people where I would spend hours talking about ESI’s services. Instead, I was able to do it in just minutes.”

David Piesko

So, what happened as a result? Dave started using this message every time he went to a customer and presented. After doing this for a year, he managed to increase ESI North America’s automotive services bookings by over 400%, from $.65M in 2007 to $3.17M in 2008.

Halliburton Avoids Being Commoditized in Africa

Christi Gell was presenting to a customer in Africa about a long term asphaltene removal system. A co-worker of Christi’s wrote the following about some work she had done using the Articulus method for creating a message:

“Even though one of the government operators pays *nothing* for the typically used (product), Halliburton has run two asphaltene cleanout jobs for this customer” using DuraKleen, which is not free. Articulus greatly aided in achieving this almost impossible sale!”

Christi Gell

This one deal was worth over a hundred thousand dollars and will lead to more in the future because of the way Christi so effectively differentiated the product Halliburton had to offer.

Midwire Systems successfully launches new product with help from Articulus

Midwest Eye-Banks is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of sight. They recover, evaluate and distribute human eye tissue for transplantation. In order to improve their own operations they developed a web-based application, called Midwire that supports user processes and enables robust data reporting to track and trend eye banking activities. Recently they decided to commercialize it and license it through a new subsidiary, Midwire Systems, to other eye banks around the country. Here is their story in their own words.

"Articulus was brought in as we were crafting a marketing demonstration for our application. While we knew our product was great, Articulus helped us to put together a presentation that painted that picture more clearly for the potential customers. The response we received after the presentation was excellent and led to multiple customers wanting to be first in line for this new product. We don't believe we would have been nearly as successful without their help."

Why the Corporate Storytelling Workshop?

Everything_getting

Complexity

Everything is getting more complicated. For instance, there is more information contained within one edition of the New York Times than what was available to a person during their entire life span in the 17th century. You have probably personally experienced the information overload discussed in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv99WA0xyNk). Your ideas, products, and/or services are complex (maybe not to you, but to others who don’t spend 10 hours/day thinking about them). How are you going to help others understand your complex ideas in the face of so much information?

Professional Advancement

Effective communication skills are a key to professional advancement. According to a survey in the Journal of Business Communications, executives are saying communication skills have the biggest impact on their advancement. As the information age is coming upon us, communication skills are more important than ever. The problem is that very few people take the time to work on their communication skills.

Logical and Emotional Decisions

The human decision process does not work as most people design their communications. As Daniel Goleman wrote in his best seller, “Working with Emotional Intelligence”:

“Those who rely too heavily on the persuasive effects of their aids such as elaborate overhead projections or elegant statistical analyses of data also can miss the boat. An audience must be emotionally engaged, but mediocre presenters rarely go beyond the same dry litany of facts, however flashily displayed, and never take into account the emotional temperature of the audience.”

So, how do you “take into account the emotional temperature of the audience?” You are likely used to giving logical reasons for why an audience should trust your idea or your company. Are you giving them emotional reasons as well?

Workshop Description

The Corporate Storytelling Workshop is an instructor led version of Corporate Storytelling training. For 3 days participants focus on improving their advocacy skills.

Objective

Create compelling and persuasive communicators. Participants learn a process to develop a compelling message that takes complex and/or intangible offerings and makes them real and desirable to the audience. The workshop is focused on how people make decisions and how to construct a message to invoke decisions.

How the offering works

During the workshop you will accomplish two things, you will learn a new skill and you will develop a new message. With the skill of Corporate Storytelling you will be able to repeatedly deliver compelling messages and presentations by following our proven process called the Storyboard. Second, you will focus on creating a real message to advocate a solution, idea, or product that you are currently working on. When you finish the workshop you will know how to build an effective message and you will have an effective message that can be used immediately. The mornings of each day are devoted to the key concepts and techniques that will be used, while the afternoons will focus on student presentations. Learning is facilitated through the use of multimedia, exercises, group involvement, and individual presentations. Each student will focus on an actual presentation they will give to an audience within 30 days of the workshop. This will give them the best chance of getting immediate results and positive feedback on what they have learned.

As reinforcement after the workshop, participants have access to:

  • telephone and email support
  • our web tool for creating a compelling message and an electronic Articulus Storyboard
  • the Articulus Newsletter full of tips and informative articles that go into greater depths of Corporate Storytelling.
  • the Articulus Corporate Storytelling group on LinkedIn.
